Abstract

The development of digital technology and the use of social media among students is increasing along with the ease of internet access and the use of smartphones. This condition has a positive impact on communication and learning, but it also causes various problems such as cyberbullying and social media abuse. This study aims to determine students' understanding of digital literacy and the effectiveness of digital literacy in preventing cyberbullying and social media abuse among students. The method used is an educational and participatory approach through legal counseling, interactive discussions, and submission of case studies to students of SMK Negeri 7 Serang City. The results of the study show that digital literacy has an important role in increasing students' awareness of digital ethics, personal data security, critical thinking skills, and the wise and responsible use of social media. The application of digital literacy is also able to help students avoid cyberbullying, spreading hoaxes, and negative behavior in the digital space. Thus, digital literacy is considered effective in creating a safe, healthy, and responsible digital environment for students through the support of schools, families, and communities.
